Three accomplished musicians, deep Nova Scotian traditions and an afternoon of tunes in the heart of Mabou.

A lively Sunday afternoon of traditional music with John Pellerin, Ceila Cameron and Mary Beth Carty at the Red Shoe.

Antigonish’s John Pellerin is a fiddler and step dancer whose Scottish Gaelic and Acadian heritage runs through northeastern Nova Scotia, including family connections to the Beatons of Mabou. He has carried his music and dance to stages across Canada, the United States, Ireland and Scotland.

Originally from Inverness, Ceila Cameron is a pianist and step dancer firmly rooted in Cape Breton’s traditional music. A graduate of Cape Breton University’s music program, she has developed her distinctive accompaniment through years of playing alongside fiddlers at ceilidhs, concerts and dances.

Mary Beth Carty of Antigonish County is an accordionist, guitarist and multi-instrumentalist drawing from the Gaelic and Acadian traditions of Nova Scotia. An accomplished performer and accompanist, she was named Traditional Singer of the Year at the 2024 Canadian Folk Music Awards.
