MAILI MACKENZIE & CAMERON MACNEIL | FRIDAY, AUGUST 28 | 7:30–10:30 PM | $12 COVER

MAILI MACKENZIE & CAMERON MACNEIL BRING A LIVELY EVENING OF FIDDLE AND PIPING, CONNECTING SCOTTISH TRADITION WITH CAPE BRETON’S GAELIC MUSICAL CULTURE.

Originally from the Isle of Skye, Scotland, Maili MacKenzie began playing fiddle at the age of seven. She attended the National Centre of Excellence in Traditional Music in Plockton, where she also studied piano and accordion. With strong family ties to Mabou, Maili continued her studies at Beinn Mhàbu and has become part of Cape Breton's traditional music community.

Cameron MacNeil is a Cape Breton piper who began playing at age ten under Trevor Kellock. A member of the Cape Breton Island Pipe Band, Cameron has performed and competed extensively, worked as duty piper at Colaisde na Gàidhlig | The Gaelic College, and performed at Celtic Colours. He is also a student at Beinn Mhàbu.

Maili and Cameron have performed together as part of the Beinn Mhàbu Trio, bringing together fiddle and pipes from both sides of the Atlantic and the strong musical traditions connecting Scotland and Cape Breton.
