CAPE BRETON FIDDLER RACHEL DAVIS AND MULTI-INSTRUMENTALIST DARREN MACMULLIN BRING THEIR AWARD-WINNING MUSIC AND DEEP CAPE BRETON ROOTS TO FRIDAY NIGHT AT THE RED SHOE.

Born and raised in Baddeck, Rachel Davis learned fiddle from her grandfather, Clarence Long, and has developed a hard-driving style firmly rooted in the Cape Breton tradition. A founding member of Còig, Rachel has performed across Canada, the United States, the UK, Europe and Australia and was named Traditional Singer of the Year at the 2020 Canadian Folk Music Awards.

Darren MacMullin is a highly regarded Cape Breton multi-instrumentalist whose repertoire includes guitar, mandolin, bouzouki, banjo, whistles and more. Together, Rachel and Darren have spent more than a decade performing and recording with award-winning Còig while also developing their music as a duo. Their collaborative album Home won the 2024 Music Nova Scotia Award for Roots/Traditional Recording of the Year and received Canadian Folk Music Award and East Coast Music Award nominations.
