Sunday afternoons at The Red Shoe are made for music, and this week’s matinée brings together three generations of Cape Breton talent.
🎻 Brian MacDonald
A seasoned fiddler from Westmount, Cape Breton, Brian is a retired schoolteacher and dedicated Gaelic learner. He has performed widely across Cape Breton, Ontario, and Detroit, and founded the Antigonish County Fiddlers. Brian is also instrumental in organizing Gaelic language programs for adults and students in the Antigonish area.
🎤 Abigail MacDonald
From St. Andrews, Antigonish County, Abigail grew up immersed in Gaelic music. A gifted Gaelic singer, pianist, Highland & step dancer, she’s been involved with Na Gaisgich Òga, Féis Cape Breton, and Daltachas. Abigail also performs and hosts at ceilidhs and KitchenFest events across the province.
🎸 Malcolm MacNeil
With roots firmly planted in Cape Breton’s Celtic music, Malcolm began fiddle at age five and guitar at thirteen. A 2024 graduate of StFX’s Jazz Studies program, he performs on both instruments, accompanies fiddlers, and has shared the stage with artists like The Barra MacNeils and Heather Rankin.
Together, they bring tradition, talent, and timeless Cape Breton tunes to life.
