FIDDLER KYLE MACDONALD IS JOINED BY ANDREA BEATON ON PIANO FOR AN AFTERNOON OF TRADITIONAL CAPE BRETON MUSIC AT THE RED SHOE.

Kyle MacDonald, from Foot Cape, Cape Breton, grew up surrounded by the rich fiddle tradition of Inverness County. He performed with his brothers Keith and Colin as All Fired Up and developed his playing through the Cape Breton Fiddlers’ Association and time spent learning from many respected players. A graduate of St. Francis Xavier University with a major in music, Kyle continues to perform and share Cape Breton’s traditional fiddle music.

Joining Kyle on piano is Mabou native Andrea Beaton, an award-winning fiddler, composer and accomplished musician from the renowned Beaton and MacMaster musical families. Known internationally for her fiddle playing, Andrea is equally at home accompanying the Cape Breton tradition at the piano, bringing the rhythm and drive that are at the heart of the island’s fiddle-and-piano sound.
