Iain MacQuarrie of Inverness County has grown into a versatile musician whose fiddle and piano carry both the drive of dance and the lift of Cape Breton sessions. From step-dancing as a child to playing the festival stage, he’s made a name for himself as one of the island’s strong young tradition bearers.
Betty Lou Beaton is one of Cape Breton’s finest accompanists, raised in a household where music was the language of every day. She first played for her uncle Buddy MacMaster at 14 and has gone on to shape the rhythm behind countless fiddlers at dances, concerts, and recordings. Her piano style is steady, rich, and full of heart.
