DARA SMITH & AMANDA MACDOUGALL BRING DEEP CAPE BRETON ROOTS AND A SHARED CONNECTION TO THE ISLAND’S TRADITIONAL MUSIC TO SATURDAY NIGHT DURING RED SHOE COLOUR DAYS.

Dara Smith-MacDonald was born and raised in Antigonish with strong family roots in Inverness. Now living in Port Hawkesbury, Dara has been playing fiddle for more than 30 years and is known for her strong, lively traditional style. She has performed at concerts, ceilidhs, dances and festivals throughout Cape Breton and beyond.

Born and raised in Judique, Amanda MacDougall grew up immersed in Cape Breton music and dance. She began step dancing at four and took up piano a few years later, going on to perform alongside many of Cape Breton’s traditional musicians and to share the tradition through teaching.

Together, Dara and Amanda bring years of experience and deep connections to Cape Breton’s musical tradition to the Red Shoe for a Saturday night of tunes in the heart of Mabou.
