🎻 Doug Lamey

A direct descendant of legendary fiddler Bill Lamey, Doug Lamey blends Cape Breton, classical, and Irish violin traditions with a soulful, rhythmic drive. Raised in Boston, he studied at Wheaton College and was mentored by icons like Buddy MacMaster and Jerry Holland. Since relocating to Baddeck in 2011, Doug has released two acclaimed solo albums—A Step Back in Time and True North—and performed at major festivals such as Celtic Colours and the Lowell Folk Festival. He’s also taught at numerous fiddle camps, including The Gaelic College, and continues to share Cape Breton’s musical legacy both at home and abroad.
